On 28–29 April 2025, the Nināwā Forum – promoted by the UNESCO Chair at the University of Mosul and the Religion & Security Council (RSC) – brought together religious leaders, civil society actors, academics, and security officials for a constructive dialogue on peace-building and social cohesion in one of Iraq’s most historically rich regions.
The outcome of the Nināwā Forum has been the “Nineveh Declaration”, a shared commitment to:
– Foster peace and interreligious coexistence;
– Uphold human rights, dignity, and citizenship;
– Promote education, cultural heritage, and reconstruction;
– Combat extremism in all forms;
– Support youth, women, and civil society as drivers of positive change;
– Advance good governance, justice, and sustainability.
This “Nineveh Declaration” stands as a roadmap for interreligious engagement, reaffirming Nineveh as a beacon of civilization and a model of peaceful coexistence for Iraq and the entire Middle East.
We invite all national and international stakeholders to endorse this vision and work together to make Nineveh a global symbol of peace, culture, and development.
