BEK-ALI YERZHAN
Dr. Bek-Ali Yerzhan is Professor of History, Sociology and Political Science, Department of Mass Communications and History of Kazakhstan, International Information Technology University (IITU) in Almaty. As a researcher and analyst, his main areas of interest cover soft security, regional linkage, modernization, inter-ethnic and interreligious relations in Central and South Asia. Dr. Yerzhan earned a Ph.D. from Al Farabi Kazakh National University, and was Post-Doctoral Fellow at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in New York, and Visiting Scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University’s School of International Studies in New Delhi. His research activities have been supported by Al Farabi Kazakh National University, International Information Technology University (IITU), Indian Council on Cultural Relations, British Council, DAAD-German Academic Exchange Service, Open Society Institute, Fulbright Foundation. Engaged in social entrepreneurship, he is co-founder of Dojo Almaty, a human development center.
